Frequently Asked Question
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What makes your pizza east coast style?

Having grown up in the northeast with this style of pizza ,often referred to as a New York style or Neapolitan style as in Napoli ,Italy, I consider this to be east  coast style versus deep dish Chicago style. Typically it will be on the thin side but should not be confused with cracker style crust. It should be crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside.

What the heck is a calzone anyway?

A calzone , simply put , is a pizza that has been folded  over on  itself to put all the sauce, cheese ,and other fillings on the inside leaving the whole thing surrounded by crust. Think of it as a pizza turnover. Here at Bluto’s  Pizza we stretch our Calzones to  a whopping 18” length.

How many people does your Calzone feed?

Surprisingly , this is a really tough one. Most people look at the size and think there is no way one person can eat all that. Actually our dough is very thin when compared to other Calzones on the market. I often refer to other Calzones as being similar to “2 oven mitts put together with a little ketchup and cheese“. The dough fills you up quickly. We on the other hand minimize the dough thickness and stuff them full of all the goodies you order.

What do you mean by “authentic” Philly cheese steak?

Having been born in Philly, I consider myself to be an authentic Philadelphian making your sandwich. I also bring in AmorosoÒ foot long rolls from their bakery in South Philly to make them just like home. I slice my own choice top sirloin so thin you can almost read the newspaper through it. We cook it up ,add 4 slices of American cheese and some fried onions/green peppers and you have a sandwich that I have been told by native Philadelphians is the best steak outside of Philly and better than most of the ones there.

What’s a Cannoli?

Cannoli loosely translated means filled tube or pipe. It’s a cookie that’s in the shape of a tube about 5” long and 1½” in diameter. Its filled with cold sweetened ricotta cheese that usually has other flavorings added. We fill ours with an almond cream loaded with almonds and then dusted with more almonds and powdered sugar. Our Cannoli’s are fresh piped to order.

Where did you get the name Bluto’s?

When I was about 15 I started to grow my hair out and develop a beard. Given my girth and attitude at the time I bore a resemblance to the cartoon character of the same name. My friends and even my brothers started calling me Bluto as a joke and it just stuck. When it came time to open this place it was a natural choice for a name.

Why did you choose CHINOOK?

Why not? Such a beautiful place. Nice people. Great fishing. Fresh air. Great fishing. The ocean. Bears and other wildlife. Did I mention fishing?
